Awards and Scholarships

Each year SurveyingSA works alongside UniSA to create award and scholarship opportunities for students undertaking surveying education to recognise their hard work and dedication to their studies.

UniSA Awards

SurveyingSA High Achievers Grant – Awarded to the Top 3 Students completing their Bachelor of Geospatial Science. Ranking for these awards are based upon the average mark for the core surveying and mapping related subjects of Surveying 1, Surveying 2, Geospatial Exploration and Digital Cartography. $1,000 is awarded to each of the three recipients.

​SurveyingSA Field Project Award – Established to recognise the best surveying-related group project in the third year Bachelor of Geospatial Science field project course.  As such the award emphasises the awardees’ ability to undertake self-directed field work and research in the field of Surveying and Mapping.  The value of $1000 is shared equally amongst the group members.

Brenton J. Burford Scholarship

The Brenton J Burford Scholarship has been established by SurveyingSA to recognise the long-standing and invaluable contribution of Mr Brenton J Burford to the profession of surveying in South Australia and Australia.

Awarded annually to a student who has completed the Bachelor of Geospatial Science and is intending to undertake the Master of Surveying at UniSA.  The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been deemed by the Selection Panel to be the most deserving recipient based upon them showing the qualities of: demonstrated aptitude for surveying, diligence to their studies and a demonstrated strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to contribute to the learning environment in the classroom and field. The value of the scholarship is $2,000
